Stations of Joy
Since 2017, IKEA has been implementing the Social Responsibility programme “Stations of Joy”. Thereby it has been supporting public and community kindergartens in the wider regions of Cyprus, creating functional spaces where children can spend their time happily and creatively.
A safe house project for the Association for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in the Family (SPAVO)
In 2016, IKEA meticulously renovated, decorated and fully furnished the new 3-storey building of the Association for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in the Family (SPAVO), a shelter created to support women and children experiencing domestic violence in Cyprus. Moreover, we took care of the offices and conference rooms for the SPAVO staff and we continue to provide our support as long as needed.
IKEA supports Cypriot society through Associations and NGOs.
We equipped and furnished a great number of associations and NGOs (Make a Wish, Hope For Children, Cyprus Family Planning Association (CFPA), and more) in order to help them provide better services. We also support and offer relief to our fellow citizens in need (such as the Single-Parent Association) by providing meals from our restaurant.
Renovation of the Cyprus Red Cross Children Therapy Centre “Stella Soulioti”
In 2013, IKEA accepted the invitation of the Cyprus Red Cross to renovate the Cyprus Red Cross Children Therapy Centre “Stella Soulioti” in Limassol. As a result, IKEA funded the renovation of the living room, kitchen/dining room, doctor’s offices and staff offices, as well as physical therapy rooms. This initiative was inspired by the belief that children suffering from severe physical disabilities, such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and other physical and developmental disorders, need to be treated in a pleasant and comfortable place in order to draw strength from the beauty of the surrounding environment. Indeed, the “Therapy Centre” employees confirmed to IKEA that children really embraced the change
