IKEA informs about misleading Social Media posts and fake SMS
IKEA informs its consumers about misleading posts and competitions appearing on Social Media with fake accounts using the IKEA name, such as IKEA Cyprus or IKEA Fans. The majority of these accounts announce free giveaways of IKEA products that cannot be sold due to slight damage. At the same time, IKEA informs about fake SMS with the sender ikea_ which encourage participation in competitions by registering through specific links in order to receive gifts.
On the occasion of this incident, IKEA informs that it has nothing to do with actions or competitions held outside its official website (www.ikea.com.cy) and its official Social Media accounts (https://www.facebook.com/ikeacyprus/, https://www.instagram.com/IKEAcyprus/). Furthermore, in order to properly inform consumers, IKEA's official competitions are always communicated through its official website and Social Media accounts and not via SMS.
